INCO Refinery, Clydach

This refinery processes nickel ore from Canada into high purity nickel products. The 100 m main stack is the most prominent feature from the ground (note its long shadow).

Founded in 1902 as the Mond Corporation (by Alfred Mond, son of chemistry pioneer Ludwig), merged with International Nickel 1928. Still referred to locally as "Mond".
