It is situated in a natural cave on the rocks of “Kiliino dere” region, near “Dragojna” peak. Around 1820 a hermit known by the local people as Petko “The Dumb” has lived in this cave. He avoided encounters with other people except two men – the village priest and some other man called Kasur Zapryan. There were rumors about this hermit saying that he was the Holly Messenger of God himself. He has suggested a great monastery to be built on this place but the Greek followers that inhabited nearby villages slandered him to the Ottoman authorities that ruled these lands and they have captured him. The hermit managed to escape somehow on the road and never returned to this place. When villagers looked inside the cave they have discovered two icons: one of St. Peter and one of St. Pavel. They built a stone wall with a door on the entrance of the cave and placed inside a metal candlestick. They named it “ St. Peter’s cell”.
Every year on 29.June people from nearby villages gather here to spend a magical night beneath the Holly rocks.
