Tuxpan

I've been to Tuxpan (1987-1998)several times, by motorcycle, car, and bus. Playa Azul is a nice Gulf beach, and there were rustic to one-star places you could stay right on the beach, cheap, half-decent. If there were 2 to 5-star hotels, I didn't see them. Beach is very sandy, water quite clear (for the gulf), and the water temp. is only cool in the winter months. Easy to get between beach and town during day (local bus) but at night, you need a taxi. The town back then was adequate with facilities and decent hotels. Not a tourist mecca, but a nice place for laid back beach vacation.
