Valsad, formerly known as Bulsar, is a city and a municipality in the district of Valsad. Valsad district may be the southernmost of all the Gujarati districts, but Valsad city is the second southernmost city of Gujarat; the most southern being Vapi. Daman, also south of Valsad, maybe considered a part of Gujarat but is in fact located in the union territory of Daman & Diu.
Valsad has a collectorate, a district court, and a police headquarters with a historic prison. The municipality is governed by the city mayor.
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Valsad is Tithal Beach, which is situated in the coastal region of Valsad.
