The Robin Hood company (originally from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) built their flour mill in Saskatoon in 1928. This was after buying, operating and later demolishing the Factoria mill that was located north of the city. Their 33rd Street mill has slowly expanded to become the large present-day facility. A $7 million modernization was done in 1999.

In 2004, the J.M. Smucker Co. bought the Robin Hood mills in Canada, only to sell them in 2006 to Horizon Milling G.P., a partnership formed by U.S. grain giant Cargill and CHS Inc.

Now surrounded by residential and industrial development, at one time it perched on the northern fringe of the city. It was exceeded only by the Woodlawn Cemetery and the tiny "McVicar Addition" residential neighbourhood paralleling the cemetery.

I have been trying to find out when the mill was built in Greenville, TX for Robin Hood Flour. Would like to get a little history of that mill, also. A great uncle of mine worked for the flour mill then. Sincerely, Bessie Carathers wrc@calicomeadows.com Kilgore, TX
