Woodlawn Cemetery is one of Saskatoon's two municipal cemeteries. Saskatoon's first cemetery, the Nutana (Pioneer) Cemetery is located on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River, which cuts directly through the center of Saskatoon. Woodlawn Cemetery is centrally located in Saskatoon, just off the downtown core. Woodlawn replaced the Nutana Cemetery (which was opened in 1884, taken over by the City in 1910, and finally designated a historical site in 1982) as Saskatoon's active official municipal cemetery.
