A 2,109 acre (8.5 km²) state park encompassing one of the largest surviving fragments of what was once an extensive wetland covering much of the southwestern Sussex County. The state park features an extensive patch of second-growth bald cypress trees.

From Trap Pond dam, one can paddle nearly two miles one way through the pond, through the bald cypress trees at the head of the pond, and then continuing up the left (north) branch of Hitch Pond Branch.
