Built in 1909, Sultan Sulaiman Club is the oldest Malay Club in Malaysia. This historical club was where United Malay National Organisation (UMNO) was conceptualised by the Malay nationalists. The first Malay Congress, chaired by Datuk Onn Jaafar, was held here. It was a place where the Malay nationalists discussed and formulated strategies to push for national independence - a struggle that was realised in 1957.

This place was also used as the training ground for one of the main clubs during the heydays of Malaysian football.
