Dock facility receives deliveries of dry bulk products from self-unloading lake freighters. With the closing of Hallet Docks 6 & 7 just upstream it became the inland-most dock on the entire Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Seaway, essentially the terminus of the system. It's held the "Inland" name for a long time, and now it's especially fitting.

Commodities handled include: limestone from lower Michigan, sent west by rail to sugar beet processors in the Red River Valley where it's used in the sugar extraction/purification process; salt from Canadian and U.S. mines around Lakes Huron and Erie, delivered by truck and rail to regional municipalities for winter road de-icing; and eastern coal from Appalachia, sent out from the dock by truck and rail to regional steam and power utilities.
