Known as the House of Execution, this three-story building was the Military Board of the Supreme Court of the USSR. During the 1930s members sentenced to death over thirty thousand citizens.

Research in the past several years revealed that the house was built in the 17th century, was a bookstore in the 1770s, survived the fire of 1812 and was the site of the literary salon of writer Nikolai Stankevich (1813-1840) in the 1830s.

The Moscow Memorial Society would like the building to become a memorial to the memory of victims of terror, but the owner has other plans.
