Mellon Hall houses various administrative offices and meeting space for Chatham University. From 1917 to 1937 it was the home of financier, industrialist, and US Secretary of the Treasury Andrew W. Mellon. Mellon's son Paul donated the home to Chatham in 1940. The interior has structural elements by the Guastavino Fireproof Tile Co.

The interior was used as a filming location for the Netflix original series "The Chair" as the common rooms of the fictional school's English department.
