The Enoree Manufacturing Company opened the Enoree Mill in 1888 along the Enoree River on Mountain Shoals. In 1914 the Enoree Manufacturing Company closed the mill and sold it to W. O. Gay and Company. The mill was known as Riverdale Mill in 1926 and was sold to the Inman Mills in 1928 until closing Enoree Mill in 2001. Today the mill has been demolished and the bell from the Enoree Mill bell tower is in the Spartanburg County History Museum.
