Formerly known as Twin Ponds, this 30 acre nature preserve physically includes only the smaller of the two ponds. It is five acres, and 4 to 5 feet at its deepest point, which is near the dam on the north side of the pond. The resident warmwater species such as bluegill, pumpkinseed and large mouth bass provide some year round fishing opportunity to the neighborhood. Brown and rainbow trout are stocked in the spring and fall.

Betty Allen was a community activist, devoted to environmental and charitable causes. She was nicknamed "the Bird Lady of Centerport," Allen was a founder and charter member of the Huntington Audubon Society. She also volunteered at the former Burrwood School for the Blind in Lloyd Neck. Following her death in 1987, the Town of Huntington renamed Twin Ponds, to honor her.
