Built in 1981 as the Hyatt Regency Flint, intended to revitalize downtown Flint.

Renamed Radisson Flint in 1991, Riverfront Hotel in 1997, Ramada in 1999.

In 2000 it was acquired by the Institute for Basic Life Principles. This (somewhat controversial) group operated it as the Riverfront Character Inn - a hybrid training center/functional hotel that banned alcohol and smoking (among other things—even rock music).

In 2009, University of Michigan-Flint. bought it and converted it to dorms.
