Kazanite is a nature reserve with Ordinance No. 508 from 28.03.1968.
Area: 154.8 hectares.
The nature reserve is located on the land of the village of Gyovren, Devin Municipality, Smolyan Province. It extends over extremely steep terrain with a slope of 36°-45° and an altitude of up to 1,500 m.
Aims of the declaration: Protect the distinctive wild nature forests.
143 medicinal plant species and 4 types of forest habitats have been established on the reserve's territory, 3 of which are included in Council Directive 92/43 of the European Union. Of the species found in these places and included in the Red Data Book, the Bulgarian cap, the Bulgarian rock dill and the Bearberries are found.
43 medicinal herbs and four types of forest habitats, three of which are included in Directive 92/43/EU were discovered on the territory of the reserve. 83 more bird species and 49 mammal species can be seen in the Kazanite Locality.
There is an eco path in the reserve, which is well marked and safe. Visits of the reserve are only permitted for those, who respect the given rules and drive along the marked route.
