Union Station was Kansas City's main passenger station from 1914 to 1984. The Westport Room restaurant and cocktail lounge had canvas murals by Hildreth Meière which were executed by Rambusch Studio (later relocated). In 1999, major renovations took place to rehabilitate the station, and it now houses Kansas City's Science City. It also continues in service as Amtrak's station in Kansas City. The Southwest Chief, the Ann Rutledge and the Mules stop here.
