Taj Mahal Mosque (Agra)

India / Uttar Pradesh / Agra Cantonment / Agra

The mosque's basic tripartite design is similar to others built by Shah Jahan, particularly the Masjid-i-Jahan Numa in Delhi — a long hall surmounted by three domes. Mughal mosques of this period divide the sanctuary hall into three areas: a main sanctuary with slightly smaller sanctuaries to either side. At the Taj Mahal, each sanctuary opens onto an enormous vaulting dome.

  • To all the conspiracy theorists blinded by a self-proclaimed historian named P. N. Oak, please Google on him and use your common sense. I can contradict all his points one by one, but I guess you can do the same if you shed your prejudices and think rationally. For the record, he filed a PIL in Supreme Court in 2000 to declare Taj Mahal as Tejo Mahalaya. It was promptly rejected and the court called it an abuse of the PIL process (http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/2000/07/14/stories/0214000q.htm).
