Rupnagar (Punjabi: ਰੂਪਨਗਰ), also spelled Ropar or Rupar, is a city and a municipal council in Rupnagar district in the Indian state of Punjab. It is situated on banks of river sutlej.NH21 passes through,connecting major cities of punjab with chandigarh.
Gateway to Himachal Pradesh(manali,manikarn).

This place has importance in geological history of the region. About 5000 to 6000 years ago River Sutluj used to flow towards south to meet Saraswati river. But due to some geological reasons it changed its course abruptly and flows in present direction.

My Grandfather who were a ZAILDAR - NUMBERDAR told me many stories about their village and every person who migrate from INDIA named his village ia PAKISTAN same like India. And we he share many many his sweet momories and i thought that i think that Tehsil Ropar is now a District in Indian Punjab. Our Village in Pakistan is Kulia Chonta - Tehsil : Samundri Distt : Faisalabad ( Old Name - LAYALLPUR and renowned indian film stars Amitabh Bachhan and Raj Kapoor are belongs to this city in Punjab - Pakistan ) If anyone knows kindly guide me .
