  • This is the very famous siva temple; stories say that the temple wall was made by warriors of lord siva to justify the heavy stones used. There is also a story that the statue or linga has a small tilt which was caused due an attack by Tipu Sultan of Mysore.
  • This is not the actual story.
  • It is a historical temple built by The Pallava Kings.
  • The Thrippallavoorappan Shiva temple is more than 2000 years old. The pratishtha of this temple was done by Khara Maharishi. ( Khara was a demon and a great devotee of Lord Shiva ). When Khara Maharishi came down to visit the great Vishnu temple by the side of Gayathri river, he found three swayambhoo Shiva lingams. He did the pratishtha of the lingams at Tripaloor, Pallavur and Aiyloor. The Siva temple faces west, something very rare. The main idol is made of 'Rudraksha sila'. As the main diety was found to be very fierce, in order to pacify the diety, a small temple tank was built opposite to the temple so that the diety's first glance falls on the water source. The temple has some exquisite wood carvings in the namaskara mandappa. The pranala ( water chute from the garbha) has a beautifully carved bhoota. Near to this ancient shiva temple, there is a Krishna temple which is around 1500 years old. In the same vicinity there are two idols of lord Vishnu and an idol of lord shiva which are more than 1000 years old.
