Sometimes incorrectly spelled Casale. This is where Polish mercenaries settled after they joined the side of the slaves in the revolt against the French. Many of the residents here have green eyes and straight hair. The river Cazale is very fast moving and starts from springs in the mountains that flow out of the sides of the hills. The city is also the site of a massacre of communists during the reign of "Papa Doc" Duvalier. A monument to them stands near the village.
