Bengal Nagpur Railway(BNR)Headquarters and residence complex shifted to Garden Reach area in the year 1903 from Nagpur.The red BNR building with Gothic architecture was completed here in the year 1907.Prior to this it was East India Company's property and the famous nawab of Lucknow, Wajid Ali Shah was imprisoned here till his death by the Britishers after the fall of Awadh.
