Tank Hill is part of the former Jeep testing course at Fort Holabird, and one of the very few remains of the former fort itself. This portion of the test course consisted of three concrete-covered grades up the hill. From north to south, the grades are rated easy, moderate, and difficult.
The approach to the steepest grade is completely blocked by a swampy area. Unlike the other two, the concrete on this grade was laid in strips and used to hold different types of test material: mud, dirt, gravel, etc.
