Hercules Campus at Playa Vista (Los Angeles, California)

USA / California / Culver City / Los Angeles, California / Campus Center Dr., 5600
building, aircraft, interesting place, film/video production studio/facility, television studio

5600 Campus Center Dr.
Playa Vista

Formerly Hughes Aircraft (where the Hughes Helicopter and Spruce Goose were made-building 15).

Hercules Campus provides space for creative people like film and video makers, game makers, YouTubers, etc.

Their web site doesn't give a single detail about what they do, but instead talks in platitudes. Very poorly executed. You read it and see if you can figure it out:

Formerly Raleigh Studios, Playa.

  • Part of Transformers (strangely enough the arctic ship sequence) and the interior cave portions of Iron Man were filmed here as well.
  • Dreamworks didn't just "walk away" ... They were DENIED their permit because of the flimsy reasoning that a "Studio" would result in too much traffic(?); Tell that to anyone who lives on the west side and is trying to drive past the way-overcrowded housing fiasco (Playa Vista) on Lincoln Blvd & Jefferson during the weekend. What a joke! Political corruption at its best. Also for the record, Van Helsing, XXX-State of the Union, World Police, Lords of Dogtown and a ton of others were shot here. I should know as I managed the stages for a while.
