Mount Calvary Cemetery was established in 1865. It is the final resting place of the popular Bishop Watterson, whose sarcaphagus is located near the center of the cemetery.
Two cemeteries have been relocated to Mount Calvary. Burials from an older Catholic Cemetery at the current site of Columbus State were relocated to Mount Calvary, as well as burials from a 'colored' cemetery that was located at the northwest corner of Brown and Stimmel Roads.
