By definition an estuary includes a variety of habitats, some of it may be navigable water at all times, other parts are tidal (fluctuating between wet and dry), some are more swampy most of the time, and some areas may be relatively dry except at times of floods and exceptionally high tides. The ,blue' showing on the map may at times be misleading.
