Years ago this was the Barclay Curle North British Engine works which served their Clydeholm Shipyard (further upriver). The NB Engine works produced some of the first diesel engines in the UK. The crane and main building , built by Glasgow structural engineers, Sir William Arrol of Dalmarnock, remain. The crane was able to lift engines from through the roof of the building and place them in new ships at the adjacent quay - known as Diesel Wharf.
