Old, but well-preserved medieval fortress on the hill that dominates over Zvornik its walls and towers, was declared by the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, as a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is assumed that the Bosnian feudal lords built and Hungarians, and Austrians upgraded this fortress.
Fortress is one of the most valuable objects of this kind in the country and can be measured with Petrovaradin and Kalemegdan fortress.
The city consists of three interrelated parts: the lower (near the road Zvornik-Sarajevo), Medium (the oldest part, which was given its present appearance in about 1433) and Gornji grad (on the hill above the Zvornik, on the 407 m above sea level).
