The England rugby team used to stay here whilst they played at Twickenham.

Dame Shirley Bassey was at the centre of a terrifying helicopter drama on the final night of the Glastonbury festival, it has been revealed.

The Welsh singing legend performed the traditional Sunday afternoon slot, following such greats at Johnny Cash and Al Green on the Pyramid stage. And after giving the rain-sodden crowd a medley of her standards - including "Moonraker", "Goldfinger" and "Big Spender" - the 70-year-old was whisked off site by helicopter.

However, a combination of bad weather and a suspected mechanical failure saw the helicopter perform an emergency landing at a college in Surrey instead of Pennyhill Park.

Witnesses revealed to the Daily Mirror today they heard a "mechanical clanking" sound coming from the chopper before the pilot landed, just missing trees and electricity pylons.

"That was terrifying. I was losing power and the mist was so thick I couldn't see where I was going," the pilot revealed. "I've got a special passenger. We had an almighty let off. Thank God."

And Bassey herself added, "Thank God. What a horrid ordeal. I'm so glad we somehow made it down safe," before asking locals who arrived on the scene if she could nab a cup of tea.
