Rudraprayag is a town and a municipality in Rudraprayag district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is administrative headquarter of Rudraprayag district.
The town of Rudraprayag is situated along the confluence of rivers Mandakani and Alakhnanda.The pilgrimage to Kedarnath begins here ,from where the road runs along the river Mandakni to Agustmuni,Khund,Gupta Kashi and Gaurikund.Guptakashi from where the road leads to Kali Mutt Thriyugi Narayan,and GauriKund are the main Stations on the way.From Gauri Kund the trek of 14 km starts to Kedarneth,to reach the Holy Himaalayan joytirling of Lord Shiva,where Jagadguru Shankaracharya is said to attain mahasamadhi in the Ling.The temple of Koteshwar is also a place worth seeing and is midway to Badrinath from Rishikesh-described by Prabhat Tandon,Bareilly,UP,India
