Elmi Ismail Libaan better known as Elmi Boodhari was a famous Somali poet who lived in the mid 1930s. He is mostly known for his love poems that he wrote for a girl named Hodan that he fell in love with. Its believed that he died for this love. This area of the city is known as Batalaale Beach and has become a catch-phrase for Love.
