A town gate from the Roman period is described as Cleopatra's Gate. It was the entrance of Tarsus, a major Roman city of its time. In Roman times, people used to sail under the gate by boats when the city was located at the Mediterranean coast. Today the sea is an approximate 10km away from Cleopatra's Gate due to rivers filling the water.
