  • Extension of Cornell U, also a working beef ranch. Making use of the springs for drinking water and to maintain pasture at this high desert location, students learn about self-sufficient living. They raise, slaughter, and eat the cattle as part of their education there.
  • Not actually an extension of Cornell, though "graduates" of Deep Springs generally go on to receive a degree from another four-year university (the Deep Springs program only being two years).
  • Deep Springs College is among the most unique colleges in the United States. Founded in 1917, it is a highly selective two year institution that accepts only male candidates. It integrates academics into a rigorous work program, utilizing the resources of its remote cattle and alfalfa farm setting. Graduates have gone on to attend Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Berkeley, University of Chicago and Oxford University. http://www.deepsprings.edu/?cat=home&page=index http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Springs_College
  • Drove past here four times...extremely isolated. Surrounded by beautiful terrain and mountains.
