sculpture, roundabout / traffic circle
Built in 2005 as part of the River Landing project, this is the first major roundabout to be built in Saskatoon since the ill-fated "traffic circle" on 8th Street. Other roundabouts have since been built in newer neighbourhoods close to the outskirts of the city.
A twice-life-size bronze sculpture of Chief Whitecap and John Lake was installed in the center of the roundabout in 2008. Entitled "The Founders", it was created by Saskatoon sculptor Hans Holtkamp.
