customs house / area / checkpoint, train station, border checkpoint, border guard
A railway station on Lithuanian-Belorussian border, on Vilnius-Maladzyechna line. After Lithuania was admitted into Shengen space, Kena became the most important border station in Lithuania, and thus it was heavily modernized and expanded, since most of transit freight from Russia to Kaliningrad and Klaipėda goes through this station. Due to the status of this station, the whole segment between Kena and the border is fenced off and heavily guarded. For this reason Šumskas railway halt was demolished, and all suburban services from Vilnius shortened to terminate at Kena.
