This was not the Homestead Works Machine Shop, as previously stated for this outline. It is Marcegaglia Steel, a Tubing and Pipe Company.

The Machine Shop was torn down in c.1987. Marcegaglia Steel, located in the buildings of the former Stainless facility.

A few remnants of the steel works were not destroyed. They exist today to attract curiosity seekers to the sprawling shopping center which has been constructed on the site. The Homestead Works Pump House no.1, Carrie Furnaces 6 and 7, the Gantry Crane, 12,000 Ton Press, and 45" Mill's venting stacks all remain from the Homestead Works.

Homestead Steel Works, located in Homestead, Pennsylvania, was a rival of the steel company, Carnegie Steel, founded by Andrew Carnegie (an immigrant of Scotland). Carnegie Steel eventually bought Homestead Steel Works, which included an extensive plant served by tributary coal and iron fields, a railway 425 miles long, and a line of lake steamships.

Today, the historic Homestead Waterfront Shopping District is the Site of the Homestead Steel Strike, the bloodiest labor battle in US history.
