The Frick Art Reference Library was founded in 1920 by Helen Clay Frick (1888-1984) as a memorial to her father, Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), one of America’s most successful coke and steel industrialists. The Frick Collection comprises masterpieces of Western painting, sculpture, and decorative art, displayed in a serene and intimate setting. Designed by John Russell Pope in 1934 and features tiling by Guastavino Fireproof Tile Co. in its construction.
