Abalone Cove

USA / California / Rancho Palos Verdes /
water, scuba diving facility / area

From the 1920s to the early 1960s, this was the place for snorklers and scuba divers to come and harvest lobsters and abalone, all you could eat and then some. By the 1970s the bugs were pretty much all gone, overfished beyond recovery. It's still a real nice place for beach diving.

  • This is an awesome place to visit. Get here very early or come later in the afternoon. There are many neat places to see like the sea caves & tide pools. It's a great place to bring the kids, just be careful around the tide pools & on some of those hiking trails. Bring plenty of water 'cause it's going to be a long walk from the parking lot to some of the other areas, but well worth it. I probably consider this area one of the most awesome areas of Palos Verdes.
