Vimanam -- Kanagakrutha vimanam
Lord Gajendra Varadhan at Kapisthalam is in a reclining posture facing the East. Legend has it that Maha Vishnu, on his Garuda Vaahanam rescued Elephant Gajendra from the clutches of the Crocodile on the banks of the river by hurling his Chakra at the crocodile and killing it. "Kabi" means monkey since Aanjaneyar was given the seva of Sriman Narayanan, this Sthalam is called as "Kabishthalam". Inspite of the God, giving seva for Anjaneyar as Sri Ramar and as Sri Vaikundanathan for Gajendra Alwaan, he also showed his seva as "Kannan" in the river side. That’s the reason this kshetram is also called as "Krishnaranya Shetram". There are shrines for Yoga Narasimhar, Sudarsana, Garuda and the Azhwars. This is the only divya desam where the Lord gave Dharshan to two animals.
