Leachate Ponds from Strip Mine

Leachate from the strip mine pools here. The liquid is unsafe for drinking. Rainwater fills some of the ponds, but others contain various chemicals leftover from the mining process. Some pools turn unnatural colors at certain times of the year: sometimes orange, turquoise, red, black, or yellow.
