The old shopping center in a city center of St. Augustin was built in 70's along with the rest of the new city center as the town hall. The shopping center was opened for operations in 1977. The name "HUMA" originally comes from " Hurler magazine" after the owner of the building and the then main anchor - a supermarket. The later anchor store was changed to Real but the name still exists.
In 2012 the renovation of the center was planned and in November of 2013 the Ground breaking ceremony of reconstruction was performed on-site.
In 2016 the new shopping center will be completed and reopened and according the architectural concept developed by Chapman Taylor it will be a new, contemporary inner-city shopping centre, which is planned which ties together surrounding streets, urban spaces and pedestrian paths. The two main entrances shall open to a refurbished market square to the south and a new park landscape to the north.
