One of only 2 of it's kind in britain, the Transporter bridge is something the poeple of Newport are very proud of, and get rather excited about. "Why?", you may ask, "It's just a bridge - a big lump of steel" you say.

If you've ever been to Newport, You'd understand why it's a point of interest.

  • Hola chappies, look here http://www.newport.gov.uk/_dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=transporter.homepage#
  • One of the few remaining transporter bridges in the world. A transporter bridge was a marvelous combination of a bridge, a trolley, and a cable-supported gondola. Can't quite picture it? See the pictures in the link in the last comment or in the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newport_Transporter_Bridge.
  • I walked over the top when I was a young man and there were no railing to stop you falling. And if I recall large gaps to step over as well.
  • only god thing in Newport
