A destination for picnics and school field trips. Sometimes nicknamed "the pseudopond" among JMU staff because the engineered water catchment was seemingly placed in error over a sinkhole so that the first few fillings of water seeped into the ground and disappeared. The pond is frequently dyed an unnatural-looking blue-green color ---seemingly to relieve the unsightly rust-brown color which results when stormwater runoff from the nearby roads pools here.
