The California Exposition and State Fairgrounds was opened in 1968 when Governor Ronald Reagan welcomed the State Fair to the 350 acre "Cal Expo" site. Cal Expo is atleast the third location for the fairgrounds in Sacramento following venues at Capitol Park adjacent to the state capitol and a site on Stockton Boulevard.
