Trigonio Tower (Thessaloniki)

Greece / Thessaloniki / Ayios Paulos / Thessaloniki
 tower, Ottoman Empire

An artllery tower, built in the end of the 15th or the begining of the 16th century. The name "Trigonion", recently given to it, comes from the byzantine name of this part of the walls. The Turks called it "Chain Tower", or "Belted Tower", probably because of the decorative belt that surrounds its lower part.
