Mitchell's Power plant use to get there coal from Mathies mine. This part of the mine is shut down now. There is a few old buildings there and still see into the mine. Go's under Rt.837 Coal car still loaded and ready to be dumped. Mathies mine had a company come in and run the mine. They didnt do a good job and filed for chapter11. There is still over 50 years with of coal in there.Dont get caught if you go there. The cops will arrest you for trespassing. They will be sealing up this part of the mine soon. Went to a meeting about it back in july of 2009.
