A mountain and a skying site where one of the first world championships in Grand Slalom took place.
1500m at its peak, Mottarone is also a famous observation point. The view of the south-western Alps and the Padana plato that opens from atop Mottarone is absolutely breathtaking. For this the mountain has been nicknamed "The balcony of Europe".
From Mottarone another important mountain is clearly visible - Monte Rosa: the second biggest mountain in the Alps.
