A small resort village, mostly consisting of hotels, ryokans and etc., taking the advantage of the sulfuric springs, the lake and the surrounding mountain slopes enjoyed by skiers.
The village lays between the Yunodara Marsh where the hot springs are, the northern coast of Yunoko Lake, the Shiranesawa River and the mountains.
At the side of the Yunodara Marsh there is the Onsenji Temple, and in the east of the village there is the Anyunu-yu Onsen Shrine; as ti is clear from the names, both are dedicated to the hot springs.
Several of the resort's ryokan offer rooms and baths with panoramic views over the lake. Some of them also open their baths to day-trippers for an admission fee of typically 300 to 700 yen (upto 1,000).
