History of the building - "The Elizabethan Grammar School, which was erected in 1573, was built from material taken from the recently demolished church of St Peter that stood nearby in St Peter's Lane. The church was first mentioned by name in about 1200 and was, in all probability one of the six parish churches in Leicester mentioned in the Doomsday Book."
