Introduction:
“There must be a better way”
his philosophy has been my motivation all my working life.

I have always been fascinated by new products and technologies and particularly how they magically arrive in the market place.

When I worked in the construction industry on a day to day basis for many years I started to question the need for mortar in the masonry trade. It occurred to me that the Greeks never used it. So why are we? There must be a better way to avoid the mixing, the placing, the water, the mess and the waste.

I only started to take this seriously back in the early 1980’s when I finally decided to gather all of my resources together and develop a full scale world class mortarless concrete block building system. I have named it SPARLOCK™.

Today the Sparlock Interlocking Building System has acquired all the necessary building and engineering code approvals and is well established in the residential and industrial “fire wall” market in North America, which is most gratifying.

However the market to which Sparlock is best suited, in my opinion, is the housing market of developing countries. The system does not require any particular skill to erect straight, structurally sound walls with automatic 90 degree corners to form the square or the rectangle of the outside house walls. The blocks are manufactured using indigenous materials with strict quality control which is mostly unheard of in these developing markets.

Regardless of the simplicity of the system, these markets, like any others, do require that the end users become educated in its use and applications. To this end we are establishing trade schools in certain countries where people can learn how to manufacture and install the Sparlock blocks.

I am very encouraged by the recent success that the Royal Rangers (a teenage scout troop) of Cape Town South Africa are experiencing with this education program.

It was 10 years ago that I met President Mandela at a Sparlock building dedication and promised him that Canada would make a difference!

We will continue to establish Sparlock in developing countries around the world as the facilitator of employment and of quality manufacturing of building materials.

  • Do you know Mr. Derek in Montreal
  • Am six years late but I have known about Sparlock for sometime now. I have always fancied myself as the one to introduce this technology to my country. It would definitely change the landscape of construction by making houses more affordable because ours is a price sensitive market and the backlog of housing is high. I commend the Sparlock team for your innovations and I hope the opportunity is still there for those wanting to promote this technology.
  • Hi l find your technologie very very intelligent. But non adresse to contact your company. So please if you find this mail please treat it very urgent. Cordialement
