Established in Kuala Lumpur shortly after Malaysia gained independence on August 31, 1957. Poland diplomatic mission in Malaysia is to maintain and develop close and co-operative relations between the two countries. Malaysia-Poland relations are usually described as being friendly and close. Poland is also one of the primary sources of military equipments for Malaysia, with significant purchases of battle tanks, worth RM1.4 billion in 2003. The contract with Poland also covers defence technology transfer to Malaysia and training courses for local military personnel in Poland.
